Weare, NH – On Monday night, March 2, 2026, at approximately 8:35 p.m., a Conservation Officer from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department responded to a report of a snowmobile crash on the Basset Mill Road Trail in the Town of Weare at Clough State Park. Upon notification of the incident, members of the Weare Fire Department, Dubarton Fire Department, and Officers of the Weare and Dunbarton Police Departments all responded.

Once on scene, Officers were able to determine that the operator, Robert Sweet, 24, of Weare, NH, was operating his snowmobile with friends on the Basset Mill Road Trail. While navigating a lefthand turn, his ski got caught in deep snow and pulled him off the trail. Sweet’s machine came to an abrupt stop, and he was ejected from the machine and into a tree. Sweet was treated by EMS personnel at the scene and was ultimately transported by Weare Fire Department Ambulance to Concord Hospital for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

Conservation Officers would like to remind riders that as we get into warmer weather, trail conditions can be expected to deteriorate, especially trail areas that receive direct sunlight.
