Colebrook, NH – On Monday, March 2, 2026, at approximately 11:53 a.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of a snowmobile crash with injuries in Colebrook.

The operator of the snowmobile was identified as Thomas Kelsey, 62, of Bethlehem, CT. Kelsey was operating near the Junction of Corridor 5 and Corridor 18 when the crash occurred.

Kelsey was attempting to rapidly accelerate while making a lefthand turn, also known as a donut, while operating his rental snowmobile. Kelsey was ejected from the snowmobile onto the hard, icy snow packed ground. Kelsey sustained injuries as a result of the crash. An inspection of the snowmobile revealed no damage.

A 911 phone call was quickly made by a member of Kelsey’s riding party requesting medical assistance to their location. A response from Colebrook Fire Department, 45th Parallel EMS, and a Fish and Game Conservation Officer began. Kelsey was transferred from the scene of the crash and was evaluated by 45th Parallel EMS staff before being transported to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook for further evaluation of his injuries.

This crash remains under investigation, yet Conservation Officers believe there were multiple factors present, such as operating off the designated trail and operating to endanger a person.

Conservation Officers would like to use this incident to remind snowmobile operators to always operate in a controlled manner to avoid injury and collision.
